Psoriasis is a skin condition that can range from mildly inconvenient to extremely severe. Those that suffer from this condition can experience itchy skin, pain, swelling, redness, stiffness and cracked bleeding skin. To ease the irritating itching of psoriasis, you can try bathing with baking soda. Baking soda has long been known to ease itching of all sorts. Mosquito bites and even rashes from poison Ivy can be greatly eased by bathing in baking soda. This substance also helps the itching brought on by psoriasis. By simply mixing some in your bath water, you skin will be soothed and itch free. This can reduce further skin injury caused by scratching.

Another psoriasis treatment that can be used to speed healing of lesions and other sores, is Epsom salts. Add a handful of Epsom salts to your bath water. These actually will reduce swelling and help the healing process. This again will leave you feeling better and reduce the chance of further injury and infection.

    • Keep the skin moisturized.This can be dome externally and internally. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Doing this will help keep moisture in the skin and will reduce the chances of further flare ups. There are also several other health benefits to drinking water.
    • Finally, get plenty of exercise. This is good for the body all over but will help psoriasis sufferers even more. Keeping your body healthy reduces your chances of obesity. Obesity makes psoriasis much harder to control and can heighten the effects of the symptoms. The exercise also has its own healing properties for the skin.

Psoriasis isn’t fun but it can be controlled. It can be treated with several things that we commonly have in our homes. By using baking soda and Epsom salts, and drinking plenty of water and exercising, your psoriasis can be contained to the minimum.
